Never let people pigeon hole you. There are those who say; if you write mystery stick to mystery…or romance or horror…etc.

But Why? We have these amazing imaginations, why reign it in and only work on one genre? If you have the ability to dream up something new and unique why not share it with the world?

Take a look at Neil Gaiman or Clive Barker or Dean Koontz. Famous names one and all. They go where their muse takes them. Don’t believe me, google them and find out.

I write horror, I blog, I am working on a Sci-Fi novel, and I write kids picture books. If I had the skills to draw, I would do that too. My mind is filled with images, sometimes vibrant, sometimes dark. If there is any way that I can get it out of my head and onto paper, I will.

So never ever let anyone hold you down.

Dream it, live it, go for it.

Work on Your Dreams

This is for all the youngsters out there … if you have a dream, whether big or small … work at it.

Even if you can only give it one hour a week, do it!

The most important thing that life has taught me — as I climb into middle age- is that life it short. Too short. While tomorrow is never guaranteed you just don’t realize until you wake up at 40 that you just might be half way through life! Never mind half way even, my bones hurt, I don’t sleep well and I still work in retail. Ugh… had I spent one hour a week writing and submitting it over the last 20 years, I just may be more ahead of the game.

So don’t slough time off by telling yourself you have “lots of it” because you really Do Not.

Do one thing, one hour, one day, one submission … anything except ignoring it.

Live your Dreams Now, Be Alive, Be Happy — It’s after-all Your Life.
