Expand your writing horizon

We tend to stick to what we know, or what others say they want from us. But why?

As a writer you are a born creator, so expand your skill set and try something new. For instance, I began writing novels right out the gate. I’ve never cared to read short stories because it felt like a snippet to something bigger and I was always left wanting more.

However as I am honing my craft, I discovered short stories are the best way to tighten my skills. When I started writing the shorts, I started reading them too – now I love them.

One day I was approached to write a 15 min screenplay. HUH, I never wanted to do this before, but I did it and guess what – I enjoyed the new style it required!

Don’t pigeon hole yourself, you never know what else you will like, and perhaps even be more excited to work on.

Through experimenting, I have a song, poetry, kids picture books, YA novels, horror, crime, sci-fi, a film produced and another complete full length movie written.

Stay fresh and innovative and check out what all you can do too!

Horror Zines Book of Ghost Stories

#HorrorZinesBookofGhostStories Ebook is ready! I’m in here with some of the #HorrorMasters Bentley Little, Graham Masterton, Joe Lansdale and more!  Okay you’ve probably seen it shared on Facebook already, but hey, I’m excited.

“This collection of ghost stories is fresh, varied, and entertaining. Perfect company for a long winter’s night.” – Owen King, co-author of Sleeping Beauties

103673044_3430851303606390_7177657732898661268_n“An incredibly creepy collection of stories of the recently and not so recently dead, written by some of the finest writers in horror. I suggest that when reading, do so in the daylight, because reading these at night will only make you more aware of your own, unempty house.” – Susie Moloney, author of The Dwelling and The Thirteen

“Gruesome, eerie, horrific, sometimes uplifting; this is a terrific selection of ghost stories that satisfy the soul—they chill the blood, too.” – Simon Clark, author of Whitby Vampyrrhic

“Looking for a perfect evening? Spend the night hunkered down in your favorite chair with only a reading light on, and dive into The Horror Zine’s Book of Ghost Stories. Forget sleep, these tales will keep you enthralled till daybreak.” – Tony Tremblay, author of The Moore House

“Nobody keeps the supernatural alive like The Horror Zine.” – Scott Nicholson, author of The Red Church

How I Panster

Hi all! Okay I hate videos’ of myself, but because so many people ask how I write as a panster—no it’s not me putting on pants! This is a quick example of my writing process.

Thanks for watching, toss me a like or a subscribe, you never know what crazy thing I’ll do next.

Audio book that sounds like a radio show

I was more than impressed when I listened to this audio book yesterday, and to be this thrilled about a narrator is saying something. After all, I just finished Duma Key by Stephen King, and he pays for the best.

Well, Nathan Tarantla‘s work is leaps and bounds above all that.

For the first time, (that I know of), a book is read with sound effects in the background. There were people screaming, guns firing, thunder rolling, a crackling fire and so much more. I was immediately immersed in the story—and transported to when I used to listen to the old radio shows. I loved those shows, and to have a story read in this vein was enthralling.

I will certainly be seeking his skills when I produce my next audio book.

Wendigo Trail :

She was offered a great job, run the newspaper on the West Coast! Only problem was, her and her husband had to travel the Oregon Trail. There’s more than prairie madness in the west!
The ice cannibal, the horror of the mountains, monster of the plains – the Wendigo. A gruesome tale of supernatural horror and survival. A full audio drama/horror experience.

And if you are a writer seeking a narrator, be sure to drop Nathan a line. PS, he also proofreads.

The importance of not blogging

I was a steady once a week blogger, for three years. That is a lot of blogs.  I wrote about writing, trial and error, and how to promote. Or I’d share my newest book, free stories, author spotlights, and interviews. Plus tons of other fun, writerly things during that time.

But then I got serious about putting that time to better use and began concentrating more on short stories. Stories that would be worthy of submitting to anthologies. While I still have novels in the works, this is what I’ve done in Sept/Oct of 2019 – with still more to come!

The Elements of Horror.

I missed the deadline for fire – but you need the entire collection anyway – don’t you think?

A great group of http://www.friends from around the globe came together in this masterpiece.

You try telling a story in a 100 words – grab book one and two for another complete collection. You wont regret it.

The writers of IASD Group bring tales of terror to life in this horrific collection. Watch the amazing live motion promo, then grab your copy.

The other is Red Cape Publishing

They’re geared more towards book services, but also have an author submission page too. Plus cover art at unbeatable prices.

Both are worth checking out as they have a multitude of differences, the only similarity is that they are real people, both genuine and not just another sight to take from you and disappear. They stand behind their sites and give 100%.
